About Geoff Allen

I’m a product designer with 10+ years of experience.

I’m at my best when complex workflows need to become clear, accessible experiences people can actually use.

My work spans healthcare, fintech, SaaS, and enterprise products. I combine research, visual craft, and systems thinking to connect what people need with what a team can build.

My background

I started in graphic design and marketing, creating print materials, campaigns, and websites before moving into UX/UI and product design.

That background still shapes how I work: strong visual communication matters, but it has to serve a clear purpose.

At OptumRx, I worked on public and member experiences and reusable design patterns. At CSI Pharmacy, I designed a custom CRM and an AI-ready design system. My independent work has ranged from investment dashboards to helping a city bring its services together online.

I earned my BFA at the University of Missouri–St. Louis and continue learning through UX research, accessibility, and AI-assisted design.

What I optimize for

I help teams turn complexity into something they can move forward with:

  • Understand the people and workflows behind the request
  • Make information easier to find, understand, and act on
  • Build accessible, consistent patterns that can grow
  • Keep design and engineering aligned from the start

I value curiosity, thoughtful collaboration, and practical decisions that hold up beyond the first release.

Outside the work

I’m a dad, and I’ve coached kids’ hockey teams. Family and time away from the screen are an important part of my life.

I enjoy playing video games and building LEGO, riding motorcycles, and photography. I’m also a fan of Dungeons & Dragons and tabletop games.

Whether I’m building something piece by piece, looking for a good shot, or gathering around a game table, I like having room to explore and create.

“Geoff brings a strong balance of strategic thinking and hands-on design execution. He has a sharp eye for detail, is collaborative by nature, and is always open to feedback.”
